The number of UK university applicants have increased as more families have decided to obtain UK citizenship with their BNOs (British National (Overseas)). How should you prepare for your Oxbridge application with more students competing a place at top universities? What are the non-public information that you should know?
In anticipation of the new academic term, UNIKEY Academy is hosting its annual event on Oxbridge Admissions. There will be no registration fees and each attendee will receive a free e-book “Oxbridge Admissions Guidance”.
In general, Oxbridge courses have an entry requirement of 5*55 in DSE electives (or A*AA in A-levels). The relatively low academic requirement means that you will be competing against a high volume of candidates from all parts of the world.

What do Oxbridge look for?
1. Minimum grade requirements
Whether you are taking the HKDSE, A-levels or IB, all applicants will have to submit their predicted grades onto their UCAS account. While most entry requirements for Oxbridge courses are A*AA (or 5*55 for HKDSE electives), there are ways to boost you predictions to increase the competitiveness of your application. You should also consider whether your subject choices match the requirements for courses such as Medicine or Economics.
2. Academic Insights is key
Grades do not determine whether you get an offer. Oxbridge looks for students with comprehensive academic experience. You may consider taking up extra-curricular activities such as essay competitions, academic competitions, external activities, internal roles and responsibilities, internships or volunteering. These insights will help you better analyse and explain your views on contentious issues.
3. Logical thinking is key
Your way of thinking and presentation will best demonstrate your academic skills. When Oxbridge tutors assess students, they want to know how “teachable” you might be when deciding whether to give you an offer. Clear logical thinking is one of the most important traits Oxbridge tutors look for.
